Description
The Homeroom Teacher plays a vital role in delivering a high-quality, standards-based education within a nurturing and structured environment. The teacher is responsible for the academic instruction, classroom management, and social-emotional development of students, in alignment of the California Common Core Standards (CCSS), the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and compliance with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) standards for accreditation and inspection and the school’s educational philosophy.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Deliver instruction in core academic subjects:
Teach English Language, Mathematics, Science based on the US curriculum (such as Common Core or state standards), ensuring lessons are age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with learning objectives for Kindergarten through Grade 4.
2. Create a safe and inclusive learning environment:
Foster a classroom culture where students feel valued, supported, and empowered to take academic and social risks. Promote respectful communication, cooperative learning, and positive behavioral expectations to enhance classroom.
3. Differentiate instruction and assessments:
Plan and deliver lessons tailored to meet the varying needs of students, including those with learning differences, English Language Learners (ELLs), and advanced learners. Use flexible grouping, scaffolded tasks, and multiple modes of instruction to reach all students effectively.
4. Implement varied instructional strategies:
Apply a mix of teaching methods such as direct instruction, inquiry-based learning, hands-on activities, and digital tools to engage students. Regularly use formative assessments (e.g., exit tickets, quizzes, observations) and summative assessments (e.g., unit tests, performance tasks) to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
5. Maintain strong parent and guardian communication:
Build positive relationships with families through consistent communication such as weekly newsletters, emails, conferences, and phone calls. Share updates on student progress, upcoming events, behavioral concerns, and academic goals in a timely and professional manner.
6. Manage student records and documentation:
Keep accurate and up-to-date records of student achievement, assessment results, attendance, behavior logs, and anecdotal notes using designated school platforms or tools (e.g., PowerSchool, Seesaw, Google Classroom).
7. Collaborate with school staff and leadership:
Work closely with fellow teachers, subject specialists (e.g., Art, PE,), learning support staff, and administration to support individual student needs, co-plan interdisciplinary projects, and contribute to school-wide goals.
8. Coordinate and participate in school activities:
Lead or assist with classroom events, field trips, assemblies, performances, and celebrations that enhance students’ learning experiences and foster school spirit and community engagement.
9. Engage in professional growth and school initiatives:
Actively participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, curriculum reviews, and collaborative planning sessions. Contribute ideas and feedback to enhance teaching practices, school culture, and student learning outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary or Early Childhood Education (Master’s preferred).
• Valid UAE teaching license/certification in Elementary Education.
• Strong understanding of US Common Core Standards or similar curriculum frameworks.
• Proficient in the use of EdTech tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Seesaw, ClassDojo).
• Excellent organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.

Experience: • Minimum of 2 years of relevant classroom experience in a US curriculum-based school in U.A.E.
