Dubai is known for being one of the best City that have an organized Transportation System. Dubai’s Transport system is regulated  by Rail Transport Authority, hence the system is centralized and regulated  by sole department which makes it more easier for both public commuters and private car owners.

 Drivers of public and private vehicles play a vital role in the industry. As they are the main person that can bring either passengers, parcels, orders, etc from point A to point B. The liability of the driver is also in a higher risk as whatever happens to the passengers or the  courier, it will be  shouldered solely by the driver. Weather the business is a start up or a well established one, the driver will always be a top requirement, weather it is an in house hire or outsourced.

1.        Taxi drivers

           -There are two categories under Taxi Driver ; 1.) Dubai Taxi (which is under RTA) 2.) Careem Taxi (that is under Careem). The differences between the 2 is the handler which are under government and private company. Nonetheless the two share the same job description or purpose, which is to bring the passengers from point A to Point B across in the City.

Monthly Salary Range: AED 3,000 - AED 7,000 + Commission

2.        Delivery drivers
- As a delivery drivers, you can be use Bicycle (for short distance delivery), motorcycle or Van (for long distance delivery and heavy package delivery). These delivery drivers role is to ensure that the orders of the customers a re delivered on time and in good condition. Some are  responsible as well for the collection of payment. That makes their job a little more risky.

Monthly Salary Range: AED 1,000 - 6,000

3.        Personal chauffeurs / Company Drivers
- The difference between the 2 is that the personal chauffeurs are mainly used for personal reasons, re: family or friends tour in the city, in short, you just rented a car with driver and you can use around the city or some based on the terms and conditions stated in the contract upon rental. But there are clients that just looking for driver alone and they will provide the unit. So as a driver having a broad knowledge in different car models is a plus. As  for company personal driver, they have the same purpose but for company drivers, they should be used for business matter only, including Visitor Airport pick up and drop off, hotel transfer, etc.

 Monthly Salary Range: AED 3,000 - 8,000

4.        Heavy vehicle drivers
- These usually includes that truck drivers. This require a higher knowledge or under higher category of license to be hired as truck drivers. Since the routes are usually long distance and the deliveries are in bulk. That is why the training for truck drivers have a huge difference from Taxi Drivers.

Monthly Salary Range: AED 7,000 - AED 15,000

 Drivers are one of the underrated skilled worker that we have. Althoug, it is the most common job, but the importance of the drivers are sometimes neglected. But having someone that can bring you to your destination safe is a great deal. Having someone that can deliver your orders is a big convinience for us consumer. And even in the companies.  Cons:

Because the City is a growing City, the traffic in the city during rush hour is horrible. And because of the weather, some drivers are controlled by their irritation, and drivers are dealing with different nationalities, etc.

 To pursue your driving career in Dubai, there are some requirements and skills that you should know and gather.

A. Minimum age and legal requirements

To be a driver, you should be 18 years of age and have a valid driving license in Dubai.

B. Valid driving license and endorsements

To drive legally in the Dubai, resident must have a valid driving licence or licence from their home if  under GCC.

C. Language proficiency (English, Arabic, etc.)

The main language used in Dubai is City. However learning the basic words in from different languages is a plus and an advantage for you.

D. Experience and training

Before you can get your license, you will undergo test drive training. And this depends on what category of license you would want to get. Categories are as follows:

l  Category1- Two-wheeler Driving license.

l  Category2- Light motor vehicles Driving license.

l  Category3- Heavy trucks Driving license.
